Mizzou Association of Venue Managers (MAVM)

Mizzou Association of Venue Managers

The Mizzou Association of Venue Managers is the sport venue student management organization within the hospitality management department. Our focus is on creating and maintaining connections with other professionals in the sports management and sports venue management industry. We do this by taking networking trips to various sports organizations and entertainment venues throughout the country, bringing guest speakers in for meetings, and offering professional development help to our members. In the past we have taken trips to places like Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village in St. Louis, Sporting Park, Arrowhead Stadium and Sprint Center in Kansas City, Vanderbilt Athletics, Dallas Cowboys, Mizzou Athletics, and Nashville Sports Council and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

On Nov. 17, a group of 13 MAVM members toured the Chaifetz Arena, Scottrade Center, and the Peabody Opera House during our St. Louis Networking Day. At Chaifetz Arena the members spoke with the general manager, assistant general manager, box office manager, and a special event coordinator for the St. Louis Sports Commission. At Scottrade Center they spoke with professionals from group and client services, group sales, and marketing departments for the St. Louis Blues and Scottrade Center. These industry representatives shared information about their positions and career paths, offered advice, and shared information about internship opportunities.

MAVM officers include: Kendra Holaday, President; Whitney Banker, Vice President; CC Bolin, Director of Finance; Lindsay Gomez, Director of Membership; Keegan Gilligan, Director of Fundraising; and Jessica Young, Director of Public Relations. The faculty advisor is Dr. Mauro Palmero. Applications to join MAVM are available on our website, mavm.weebly.com, and on Facebook as "Mizzou Association of Venue Managers."
